The Theory Test is the first stage of becoming a new driver and it involves you performing an 'on screen test' which you must pass before you can take the practical on test. You will be asked a total of 50 questions and must score 43 or more to pass this part of the test.

Next comes the Hazard Perception Test. This is taken after you have answered all of the theory test questions. This part of the test involves watching a series of video clips. 14 video clips will have 15 developing hazards which you will have to look out for. Once you have noticed a hazard developing you must respond by clicking the mouse.

You must get at least 44 points out of 75 to pass this part of the test. You must pass both the Theory and Hazard Perception Test at the same time to get an overall pass.
